So I'm changing a lot about my life right now. Still a gaming/anime geek, but that's about it. I'm trying to be a lot more social, talking to people more and staying on aim whenever possible. Part of that change will mean more posting of stuffs to LJ. Also, I cut my hair. For those of you that saw me before, you knew I had hair going to my midwaist that was wavy and curled at the end. I finally gave in to the fact that it looked bad on me and got it cut short. Now I look like my uncle Paul >_> On the upside, everyone says I look MUCH better. One of my older coworkers had the best comment of "There's actually a handsome guy under all that!" She also almost died choking since was drinking when she passed by and noticed that it was cut :P By far the best reaction. Though stunning the rest of my family was fun too ^_^ Current Mood: hopeful
Before I write this, note that I haven't played World of Warcraft in over a year >_>
So I dreamt I was some kind of warlock. I was in some town and ran on to a pile of bones which I thought would teleport me to another town. It did, but it was the Horde town Thunderbluff and I was Alliance, so I tried to run as fast as possible. Thunderbluff is surrounded by sheer cliffs, which I managed to jump off of with the guards following me and survive the fall! Only to then die as the guards also jumped >_> Then I woke up and thought I should tell me friend about the wierd dream so I started making dents in some kind of mesh thing as a form of writing. Needless to say, this was failing miserabley, so I got on my computer and started up iChat and sent him messages detailing the dream. I then woke up from THAT dream and figured what the hell, might as well note the dreams down. Current Mood: sleepy

|Merry Christmas I guess?
Oddly, this is the one time out of the year that I'm in a bad mood... I blame it on last year's events around this time and me not changing since then... so rather than a merry christmas, a bah humbug >_>
... Bah, can't even be cranky correctly. Merry Christmas :P

|Otakon 2007 Report!
Well, that was interesting. Quick overall things:
COSPLAY: My sister can make a fully realistic version of Lenneth Valkyrie or Shaman Nina (BoF2) in a month, but not a Gwendolyn (Odin Sphere) in 3 days. Hopefully she'll give herself more time next con :P I just brought my pink gi and was Dan for Sunday. I really need to finish that costume at some point... ie: Make gloves. Yay for simplicity :P
The masquerade was AWESOME. There were like 2 or 3 sucky skits, but, considering there were almost 30 skits, that was amazing. The only overabundance of any single series this year was Pheonix Wright (aka Gyakuten Saiban). Considering I like the games, I wasn't complaining. All of the Ilya Von Karmas rocked, though the Phoenixes and Edgeworths in general need to learn that it's alright for men to wear wigs. Hell, more male cosplayers in general need to learn that. And they usually don't have my problem of having long hair, even! *mutter*
TRANSPORT: Taking the train down there SUCKS. Yeah, no stress on the driver... but forced schedule makes it stressful on everyone else instead, and restricts what we can carry.
WHAT WAS LEFT OF MY MONEY: Dealers room now has 2 import game dealers that don't suck. Hen da Ne and some other place. Pandora's Cube was back this year, which is sad. I kinda consider them a blemish in the dealers room. They have stupidly high prices and nothing good anyway.
That other place had Sakura Taisen 1 and 2 for the Dreamcast for cheap, which is awesome since I never see them on eBay and only have the third game, which is truly fun. Ah, dating sims and mecha strategy. They also had Namco X Capcom, which I'd been looking to pick up so I got that as well. They even had Tales of Destiny 1 and 2 for the PS2 which I almost impulse bought before remembering that they're on way from Japan already thanks to my sister ordering them... though we're getting slightly worried about that as it's been over a month now. *fume at lack of Stahn awesomeness*
WORK AT OTACAFE: Was great, as usual. Actually, better than usual since we had more than 4 staff members total. We actually all got a good amount of time to roam the con and manage to see the events we wanted to. There's nothing as joyous as making dozens and dozens of people happy throughout the day as you help them find songs, get them lyrics, and convince them that they can sing ^_^. Most actually can sing fairly well, too... most -_-; The best part had to be a guy from tech ops stopping by to check us out... and then bringing in his huge tower PC loaded with music and an awesome sound card and staying with us for the rest of the con. We're keeping him. Mwahahahhahahahhahahaha.
The one annoyance was that we had set up problems each morning. Another hard drive failure on the first morning. The back up drive not being at Otacafe on the second morning. A panel happening on the third morning IN Otacafe, that wouldn't have been a problem if communications hadn't screwed up on what we thought was going to happen. Current Mood: sleepy

|Major Leaks and Power Outages
So, we had our roof repaired a few weeks ago. Or rather, we had it redone entirely as the insurance people didn't like it and the top two layers of shingles were completely falling apart. Sadly, the two layers below that were bright red and golden stone encrusted shingles that looked awesome but were destroyed by the garbage roofing done on top of them. *sigh* Anyway, during the roofing they "fixed" our skylight that we had done repairs to in order to stop leakage. In doing so, they basically opened a stream up that goes in to my living room. Taking care of that during the middle of downpours was fun -_-; I had to take the day off of work to repair it today, which leads in to part two of the "Day of Awesomeness (not)."
National Grid decided that since Troy had been so damaged in the last few storms, they'd just cut power to the city and surrounding areas today to stabilize the rest of their grid. This wouldn't have been too bad if they had given even the mayor at least some warning. Instead, we had a city full of accidents as no traffic lights worked. Thankfully, it didn't affect us until the later half of the day. When they decided to bring the city back online, it shuddered the system for a good few hours, giving us random black-outs and a general brown out for the length of it.
All this, and I don't get paid for today since I didn't go to work, making the large bill more annoying, with Otakon in less than 2 weeks... it will be tight. *sighs with annoyance* Ah well, the upside of being a temp... endless vacation days as long as you don't piss off your employer and keep getting your work done. |Stupid money troubles...
So the other day I found out that Sage didn't forget I owe them 7000 dollars... I was idly kinda hoping they'd just forget and not give me grades for those two semesters. *sigh* Well, that makes the next... two years painful. Ah well, this is why Debt was my patron god for a few years back in high school. -_-;
In good news, I still have enough money to go to Otakon! Thank the gods... close call, but I'll make it. No new cosplay this year though :( And I don't think Zelos is in good enough condition... though I may fix him up for it. Current Mood: annoyed

|Trees and Gaming Binge
It's interesting how pollen can just blow off of trees all day long... I have a good view of a row of tall trees, and the summer snow (as I like to call it) streams off them like a kid blowing bubbles. Well, successfully. I always sucked at bubble blowing... >_<
Right now I'm playing through way too many games at once... It seems to be a good year for me and gaming. I picked up Persona 3: Fes, Atelier Iris 3 (about to finish the second one, too), Final Fantasy XII, Odin Sphere, Pokemon (Diamond) and am prolly going to pick up .Hack//GU tomorrow used to see if they improved on the original. I can't wait for Soul Cradle to come out... I drool just looking at it's Ogre Battle-esque unit design system. I spent way too many hours just setting up units and resetting the beginning of the game to get different units to set up.
*sighs with contentness* Current Mood: content

|Annual Birthday Post
Meh, if it's not annual, it will be soon... when I go and make my time machine and go back and post on my other birthdays. Though then you'd see them now and I wouldn't be posting this... which means I failed in making the time machine. Dang you low dexterity score!
Anyways, I should post more often. Especially now that my life is for the most part fixed up nicely. I have a nigh full time job working for the New York Department of Transportation as a temp... no benefits, but alright pay. Enough to live on and pay bills with at least. The only thing left is Robin... but I need stability before I can approach her again. I will NOT repeat that mistake again. Though I almost feel like I'm stalking her now... after all these years of not knowing where she was, I got a job right above her for a week and am now positioned in a building diaganol to hers, with a view of her cubicle basically O_o This is kinda playing hell with my psyche... though I'm glad she's alive at least.
And stuff. I'll try to post more often, or something :P
... Don't I end every post with that? Dang. Current Mood: happy

|Month in Review
I'll break this down in to a few things that describe most of the month...
Otakon was fun, as always. I worked for Karaoke again and was with animejpop
and had fun while stationed there. Overall, the quality of singers goes up every year, which is happiness to my ears in a disturbingly literal fashion. I only brought my Dan from Street Fighter costume with me and wore that on Saturday and Sunday, which was awesome as I got lots of pictures taken (was the only Dan at the con seemingly O_o) but then was saddened when a Kyo cosplayer told me about the huge Street Fighter vs King of Fighters brawl that happened on Friday... right outside where I was working :P I need to remember to check the forums for this stuff from now on -_-; Unfortunately, the special signings for staff members never happened, so I didn't get my copy of VP2 signed by Silmeria's seiyuu. It was very fun though, and reminded me why I love being staff... I always wandered back to Otakafe anyway, but now I get free room and food!
Two days after coming back from Otakon, I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed. The two lower ones were impacted, the one on my left was so badly impacted that it was in the jaw nerves! Thankfully, I was under anasthetic for the whole operation in addition to being utterly worn out from the con :P For the next two weeks I ate nothing but yogurt and pudding, taking pills every 3 hours. I can barely remember those weeks... other than playing World of Warcraft and randomly feeling like there was a sword in my mouth.
FREE! FREE AT LAST!
And now everything's back to normal as the side affects of the meds and fluids-only diet wore off :D
Most people post weekly, or even daily... bah to them, I say. That's too easy. Monthly walls of text for the win!
Oh, and you all need to beat VP 2 so I can actually talk about it... *glares at sister* Current Mood: sleepy

|First Import PS2 Game
I just ordered Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria, my first import PS2 game... should be in either tomorrow or saturday, but UPS doesn't deliver on saturdays :( Not that it really matters... the PS2 is getting modded over the weekend anyway and won't be back until Sunday night :P I wish I could do screen caps... will just have to take photos in the meantime of cool stuff, and prolly write a FAQ while at it. If nothing else to keep track of everything so I don't need to worry if I forget what certain kanji mean :P I so need to study more -_-; Current Mood: giddy

|Bored in class again
I seem to be the only person who can get their bloody database to work... always... *sigh*
|Monday, February 13th, 2006|
It's the middle of my Oracle class... and may I just say that I *HATE* psuedocode? It's useless to me... one small example speaks much more to me than a dozen lines of false code.
Sidenote: If class continues being this boring, I may actually update this blog on a more regular basis -_-; Current Mood: bored

|Wild Arms: Alter Code F
Finally beat the remake of one of my first PS1 RPGs... And it's even better than the original, in most ways, which is something I don't usually say about remakes :P Normally I get slightly annoyed at ANY plot changes, just cause I don't like them toying with the plot I once loved, but in this case all they did was add on more plot and make the characters even better. PLUS they kept Rudy mute! This is the only main character I've ever actually thought of as mute rather than try to make up my own words for what he was saying, so it made me really happy ^_^ Only downsides to it? They removed one of my favorite lines... though they added in a new great one. I don't consider these really spoilers (particularly since I'm not going to give who said them):
removed: "Fast Draw? Hah! More like Fat Draw!"
Don't ask why... I just found it funny for some reason. :P
added: "Ziekfried's always saying 'How can we bring about MORE death?' and I'm thinking 'Y'know, maybe life ain't so bad.'"
Now to patiently wait till I can get my hands on Wild Arms 4... Until then, time to finish Persona 2 after all these years! I stalled out in the final dungeon and then lost the game -_-; Found it recently, though, so now beating it... probably ;) Current Mood: content

|Report from AnimeNext
So the con ends... I cosplayed as Dan from Street Fighter for most of Friday, which elicited lots of yells of "DAN!!!!" but only like 2 pictures, and then as Zelos from Tales of Symphonia for almost all of Saturday. That got some squealing fan girls and some guys who said they liked the game and then stared awkwardly during a moment of silence before leaving... ah, the funs of rpg fandom. My sis won an award for Best Craftmanship for her Lenneth Valkyrie costume. It was funny because they elevated her to Journeyman status (won once or twice) just because of how many novices there were, even though this is the first time she's even entered a contest :P What's even better is that the prize was cosplay supplies, about $20 worth evidently ^_^
Pics will be up tomorrow or so... Current Mood: cheerful

|Day of fun!
So, today was my birthday. Started off good with going to work in the networking lab at school. Put together a bunch of machines and tested them to see if they worked etc. Anyway, when I try to leave both of my brake lights go on (one for the parking brake and the other for the ABS) and I check the booklet that comes with the car... this means you really need to take it in and get at least new break pads or something. So now it's stuck in Albany, and will be fixed tomorrow by noonish... which is too late to pick up potassiumman
;_: Ah well... the day ended with me reading manga and my sis bringing me a cheesecake. Extra plain! Just the kind I like ;) Now I just have to finish my costume for Zelos from Tales of Symphonia before the con this weekend... definitely going to have pics of that ^_^ I'll never forget when I opened the artbook and saw him... it was like looking at a nigh perfect rendition of LMekko that I roleplayed at a Mudd. The fact that he was cool and fun to play as in game didn't hurt any :p Current Mood: satisfied
|Monday, May 30th, 2005|
So at about 1:30 I decide to head out for a walk and start off towards route 2... and then up it... after a while I decide I might as well find out how far it is to the Stewarts half way to my mom's place (which is a 45 minute drive the whole way) and get told that it's about another mile. It's been over an hour and a half at this point so I figure I'll prolly just stop at the Stewarts and ask my sis for a ride... but along the way I notice some garbage on the side of the road, a BK Fries container with that scratch off thing they've got going right now, so I decide to try my luck and scratch it off... Free milk shake! And there's a BK on the way home if I take the Route 7 route... which I decided on doing at that point, seeing as to how the god of milk shakes had decided to bless me. I get home with a total round trip time of about 4 hours with about 4 minutes total of stopping along the whole way.
What have I learned from this? Stretch first, next time. And nature is still beautiful where there are no humans ^_^ Current Mood: tired

|Woo... I won! ... wait, it's nigh junk :p
After waiting about 20 minutes in line out front of the Apple store here I finally open up my laptop and at that moment they file us in :P The reason for the line? They're giving away iPods and iBooks and such. Everyone wins something, I and my mom only won free songs on iTunes though. Pottasiumman'll be getting those. My sis won an iSight though. Great, cause we want people to see us... wait, she can't even use it with her old machine, so I get it. You can tell how much I like posting pictures, by the 0 available :P
Anyway, this is all the junk you get after waiting like 3 months for me to post. Well, not waiting for me... but bah! :p

|bad two days
So these two days have been interesting. We had a small blizzard here, you see. I left school early yesterday since my night class had been cancelled and was driving my friend home when I just kind of drove in to the middle of the cull de sac he lives in, stranding my car in the snow/ice bank that was there because the road was completely unplowed so you couldn't see where it began. We shovel for about an hour trying to get it out and fail, so head in to his house to rest and call my mom, who can tow me out. Roughly 10 minutes later a neighbor comes by and asks if we tried shoveling. About 10 minutes after that the snow plow comes through (an hour too late for me -_-; ) and asks us if we tried shoveling, then he tries pushing the car and figures out the same thing we did: It's stuck on snow underneath it. So then we wait for my mom. And wait and wait. And then it becomes night and it's still snowing rather heavily so she says that she'll just make it out the next morning instead >_< Thankfully, my sis comes and picks me up. And the next morning I get up early to get the car with mom, and I shovel out my sister's car so that she can get to work. Mom and I get to my car and I shovel yet more around it before she finally tows it out. Thanking her, I leave and we get on the highway, where she falls behind me since she's going much slower in the truck. I get home and park in the only place available, which is a foot of snow almost, and then notice a good spot across the street. I decide to shovel myself out and move over there, which I did. Then I wait for mom to show up so I can help my step-grandparents at their place with her. And wait and wait. Then I get a call saying that her truck broke down on the highway. We later found out she had been sold bad diesel fuel, it had been watered down. So I drive out to my step-grandparent's place and hand shovel out their entire extended driveway and the walkway before returning home for an hour of rest before heading off to school to work and take a midterm. While on duty, a guy is looking around confusingly so I ask him if he needs help. He responds by saying that I always look at him as though he's retarded and then screams that the computers in the lab suck because they won't run his program on his floppy. I tell him to think whatever he wants about how I'm looking at him, and then point out that the "program" on his floppy is just a link to a program. Which he says he has. On his computer at home. Then his face lit up like a light and I just kind of facepalmed and almost muttered "Thank you for proving yourself not retarded..." The other people in the lab just glared at him and muttered, and I felt like saying "Have a nice day, Mr Retard!" as he left. Man, sometimes I wish I was a jerk. Anyway, I think I aced the midterm at least :P
|Wednesday, February 16th, 2005|
I'm banning myself from videogames until the end of the semester. No PS2, GC or anything else. Even GBA and PC games. I HAVE to do well. And by well, I mean 4.0s. Time to kick the perfectionist persona back in to gear! Current Mood: cheerful

|On Star Fox: Assault (aka: The Happier Update)
So I just beat the new GC Star Fox game, thanks to it coming out in rental stores before release. It rocked. I played on easy mode and won handily, but with MANY losses on the final stage despite a generally nice playthrough. Can't wait to get all the Silver (normal mode) medals to unlock Xevious. Funny thing is that I died 6 or so times on the final stage. And then only once to the final boss, and that was only because I sat there and waited while it charged up it's beam, idly wondering how much damage it would deal :P Talk about anticlimactic. Great game though. Highly recommended to anyone who's a fan of series or just likes action games in general. Current Mood: amused
